Minister and Spiritual Leader – Bro. Michael R. Brown
Brother Brown obeyed the Gospel and received the Lord Jesus Christ through Baptism at Malory Church of Christ, Portland, OR in 1991, and currently a member of Upland Church of Christ, Upland, CA since Sept-2021. As an Ordained Minister, Brother Brown has served as Trustee, Overseer, Bible School Teacher, Song Leader, and occasional Preacher in the Church of Christ over the years. Brother Brown has also been leading a Monthly Men’s Bible Study in the Inland Empire for the past 25-years, now known as ‘The Kingdom Men’s Bible Study’. Brother Brown has also been the leader of ‘The Pomona Singers’, providing spiritual hymns and song services at several Nursing Homes and Retirement Centers in So-Cal, and more recently a part of the Northside Church of Christ ‘Ensemble’ in Riverside, CA.
Brother Brown received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio in 1974, and attended Graduate School of Professional Management at Indiana Northern University, Fort Wayne, IN in 1976. In 2008, Bro. Brown ‘retired’ after 31-years with the ‘Timex Watch Corporation’ in the position of Regional Sales Manager, and after caring for his aged parents for several years, established and operates ‘Michael Brown Sales Corp’ as president, a Certified Small Business in California specializing in food service distribution to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in California since 2011.
Married to his helper and wife, Heidi Brown in Fontana, CA since 2009 (affectionately referred to as ‘The JESUS Lady’), with two ‘outstanding’ sons: Michael (Sara) of Vancouver, WA, and Marvis, 3-10 Phi Lambda (Anita) of Avondale, AZ, having 4-grandchildren between them (“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children…” Pr. 17:6).
Brother Brown became a member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. over 55-years ago on May 13, 1970, while at Kent State University outside of his hometown of Cleveland, OH, Psi Gamma Chapter, as a member of “The Daedalian Five”. As ‘last man online’, Brother Brown’s tag is 5-70 Psi Gamma, ‘Scatterbrain Crooner’.
Since initiation in 1970, and throughout his professional career with Timex Corporation, Brother Brown has been a member of chapters in the 4th, 10th, 2nd, and, and now the 12th District over the last 35 years.
Brother Brown was ‘appointed’ to the position of ‘12th-District Chaplain’ of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in 2015 by the 32nd-12th-District Representative, James Walker, also a member of the ‘Church of Christ’. Brother Brown served faithfully as 12th-District Chaplain consisting of 10-states, 33-chapters and 1,300 members. Brother Brown’s chaplaincy served several District Administrations over a six-year period, ministering to fraternal members and their families, conducting Memorial Services, leading 12th-District Bible Studies, Prayer Calls, and Spiritual Revivals among other Spiritual Leadership duties until succeeded by current 12th-District Chaplain, Minister Chuck Clemons in 2021. Brother Brown continues to serve Omega here in the 12th District, assisting the 12th District Chaplain on occasion, and more recently being appointed chairman of the newly established, ‘Senior Brothers’ committee, by 39th 12th-District Representative, Brother Dr. Ed Young.
Brother Brown continues to live out our Fraternal Motto, “Friendship Is Essential to The Soul” daily by loving, forgiving, and encouraging at every opportunity. His greatest wish is for everyone to embrace the day they were born, and to come to knowledge of ‘why’ (to glorify ‘God’!).
